An examination of plot elements in Claremont's Uncanny X-Men that were left behind and not fully explored during his run on the title.
1. Who is Malice
Sinister talks to Polaris while possessed by Malice as if she was his lover. Was Malice originally planned to be Sinister's wife who died? Perhaps he found a way to preserve her consciousness inside that Victorian era choker?
2. Is the Shadow King responsible for Days of Future Past?
Originally Claremont supposedly planned for humanity's distrust of mutants to have been influenced by the mental manipulation of the Shadow King over the years...all to get back at Charles. It is later shown that he has a few mutant "hounds" in his employ in the Uncanny X-Men series, in the present day. This would suggest he has something to do with the creation of the Hound program in Days of Future Past which Rachel Summers/Grey was a part of
